Technology at InThing

From raw signal to trusted record.

Enterprises run on systems of record that cannot see the physical world. InThing builds the layer that can, and makes it practical to deploy with whichever sensors fit the job.

The problem
Systems of record don’t know what is physically happening
The approach
Diagnose first, choose the sensor per use case, connect to the systems you already run
The platform
Trapeze · Visium · EAI-Bridge
The products
InVault · InFlow · InStep, for assets, materials and people

The problem worth solving

Every operation has a visibility gap.

ERP, WMS, MES and asset registers know what was ordered, scheduled and expected. They don’t know, in real time and with accuracy, which asset moved, which kit was picked, who entered the clean room or which pallet left the dock.

System of recordWhat it believesWhat’s physically true
AssetsCounted in the registerMissing on the floor, idle, or past calibration
MaterialsReceived in full, per the ERPShort, staged in the wrong place, or about to run out
PeopleOn the rosterIn a restricted zone, unaccounted for at mustering, or paid on disputed counts

Our approach

Three principles that shape the technology.

01

Technology-agnostic by design

Barcode, NFC, UHF RFID, Bluetooth LE, LoRaWAN, UWB, GPS and vision all feed the same platform. The thing being tracked decides the sensor, and the platform adapts.

02

Products on a platform

InVault, InFlow and InStep are complete applications that share one data model and one integration layer, so every new use case builds on the last.

03

Integrate

EAI-Bridge keeps existing ERP, WMS, MES and EAM investments accurate, so customers keep the systems they already paid for.

The power of choice

One technology doesn’t fit every thing.

A pallet crossing a yard and a surgical instrument in sterilization don’t need the same sensor. Pick what you are tracking and see which technologies fit, and why.

  • Barcode Visual · line-of-sight · low cost Low-cost identity at known checkpoints
  • NFC Short-range · secure · handoff Deliberate tap-to-confirm handoffs
  • UHF RFID Bulk scan · mid-range · passive Hundreds of items read at once, no line of sight
  • Bluetooth LE Zone presence · dynamic · battery Which room or zone, continuously
  • LoRaWAN Long-range · low-power · outdoor Large outdoor areas on small batteries
  • UWB Precision · cm-level · real-time Exact position where centimeters matter
  • GPS Outdoor · global · fleet-scale Assets and fleets beyond your walls
  • Vision Camera-based · AI · contextual Context that tags alone cannot give

The architecture

Three cooperating layers.

Sensor data enters as raw signal. Decisions, dashboards and records of action come out the other end.

  1. Physical worldSenseTags, readers, gateways, anchors, scanners, cameras and robots.
  2. Layer 01 · TrapezeRefineNormalizes reads from different devices onto one digital floor plan. Pattern recognition and ML models turn noise into events.
  3. Layer 02 · VisiumActDelivers events to people on web, mobile and floor stations; predictive models flag what is about to go wrong.
  4. Layer 03 · EAI-BridgeIntegratePublishes trusted events into SAP, Oracle, WMS, MES, IWMS and custom ERPs, concurrently.
  5. EnterpriseDecideSystems of record that finally match physical reality.

Business model and IP

How InThing makes money, and what it owns.

We are a pure-play software company and have been since 2013.

Customers pay for software subscriptions, hosted by InThing in the cloud or installed on their own premises. Hardware, local delivery and often the customer relationship come from our partners: Zebra and HID on the device side, resellers such as CDW and Redline Solutions, and system integrators.

The core IP is the event processing in Trapeze, which turns streams of raw reads into events with business meaning, built by a patent-holding team with more than 100 years of combined experience. Engineering sits in Zagreb, Croatia.

Why now

The physical supply chain changed faster than the systems tracking it.

Tariffs reroute shipments mid-passage, suppliers diversify under pressure, labor costs climb and inventory buffers shrink. Materials still move, but manual scanning and paper trails can’t keep pace.

Labor is the scarcest input

Every manual scan, count and reconciliation competes with productive work. Sensor data removes the touchpoints.

Accuracy is a compliance issue

Auditors expect chain of custody, calibration records and audit trails in real time. Reconstructing them after the fact no longer passes.

Sensors became practical

RFID, BLE and UWB hardware matured. The hard part now is turning their data into decisions people trust, and that is what the platform does.
