Trapeze · Sensor Data Refinery

Raw reads in. Unambiguous events out.

Trapeze knows the difference between a phased-array RFID reader, a Bluetooth gateway and a UWB anchor, and normalizes their readings onto a single digital floor plan. Then it decides what actually happened.

What Trapeze does

From device middleware to real-time actions.

01 / Connect

Device middleware

Supports most industrial readers already. New devices, event types and even proprietary integration methods are added quickly.

RFID · BLE · UWB · GPS

02 / Correlate

Event processing engine

Detects moving situations involving people or things (presence, absence, exact location, temperature) and calculates complex events from simple ones.

Temporal correlation

03 / Contextualize

Operational meaning

Off-the-shelf modules interpret common events: authorized or unauthorized, stock transfer or check-out, receiving or return.

Standard modules

04 / Publish

Real-time actions

Triggers alerts and actions as situations happen, and publishes events to Visium data services or to enterprise applications through EAI-Bridge.

Real-time

In practice

Watch a dock door think.

Select a point on the scene to see what each layer does.

1 · Sense

The dock door reads every tag

A fixed RFID portal captures pallet and case tags as they cross the threshold. Nobody scans anything, and no line of sight is needed.

2 · Refine

Direction as well as presence

Trapeze correlates the read sequence across antennas, discards stray reads from the neighboring door, and decides that this is an inbound receipt rather than an outbound return.

3 · Act

The right person sees the exception

The receiving lead gets a Visium alert on mobile: the purchase order is one case short, and the truck has not left yet.

4 · Integrate

ERP updates itself

EAI-Bridge posts the goods receipt and the discrepancy to ERP and the WMS. Nobody re-keys anything.

Illustrative scenario.

Where it changes operations

Six places it pays off.

Receiving

Automated dock doors that record receipts as goods arrive.

Kanban

On-time replenishment triggered by real consumption.

Auditing

Touchless audit portals for kits, containers and sealed bags.

Inventory & cycle counts

Rapid counts without line-of-sight scanning, at up to 50 items per second.

Shipping

Zero-error portals and dock doors that verify every order.

Hazardous materials

Automated compliance checks and alerts.

Deployment

Highly available by design.

Trapeze 3 runs in configurations from a single server for pilots and non-critical use cases to distributed services across multiple servers for high-availability installations.

Architecture
Scalable, fault-tolerant cluster; event and temporal correlation; real-time publications
Devices
Most industrial RFID readers out of the box; BLE, UWB and GPS sources; new sensors added as needed
Integration
Consumes business data and publishes events or actions to Visium or enterprise applications such as SAP, Oracle, ServiceNow and IBM Maximo via EAI-Bridge
Languages
Built-in support for most languages
Hosting
Managed by InThing in the cloud (Azure), on-premises, or as a high-availability cluster

Trapeze Companion

When a fixed reader doesn’t fit, carry one.

Trapeze Companion is a mobile app that turns a handheld RFID reader into a moving read point for Trapeze. Use it in places where a permanent portal would cost too much, or where the read point has to travel with the work.

In practice: production carts scanned at each manufacturing step, with results posted to SAP; large shipments scanned at the dock and visible live in monitoring and the ERP.

  • Pairs with Zebra RFID handhelds on Android
  • Every scan is tied to a location: a default one, or one read from a location tag on the spot
  • Reads stream to Trapeze in real time and follow the same rules as fixed readers, so alerts, events and ERP updates work the same way
  • Operators sign in; each device is licensed individually
